Abstract
Romanian supine is a non-finite verb form which moves away, to a greater or lesser extent,
from the prototypical manifestation of the verb. Croatian also knows non-finite verb forms, but supine is not
found among them. Having as a starting point the typology of supine structures (the supine after aspectual and
transitive verbs, the supine with purpose value after motion verbs, the supine after impersonal verbs, after nouns
and adjectives and the supine in the hanging topic pattern), we will follow the manner in which the supine is
rendered in Croatian, based on examples from literary texts translated from Romanian into Croatian.

Abstract
The Slavоnic Serbian language, as a part of the 18th century, is unfortunately a
very much neglected Serbian language history topic. Due to the current language situation
(specifically, the existence of modern Serbian as an operational and standardized literary language)
and the mentioned insufficient research, Slavonic Serbian is mostly understood as a kind of
transitional language form, with all the negative aspects that this brings. The most significant negative
aspect is the tendency to neglect the fact of its great cultural and historical value, as well as the once
very widespread use. Slavonic Serbian was not only an important part of the Serbian culture, which
portrayed the spirit of the Enlightenment era in which it existed, but it was, until the last moment, a
candidate for the standardization of the literary language among Serbs. This paper will thus try to
define the notion of the Slavonic Serbian language (temporally and territorially, but also in the context
of literary theory, i.e. as one of the Serbian literature epochs) and to address the most important issues
related to this term..

Abstract
The main aim of the article is to put the development of the language of the Moldavian
correspondence with L’viv into the context of both Ruthenian and Romanian Slavonic tradition. The
correspondence can be divided into two main groups: the privileges to L’viv merchants (1408-1531) and the
communication with the L’viv Orthodox Brotherhood (1558-1634). The oldest privileges do not differ much
from the documents of the internal chancellery. Nevertheless, the later privileges do not acquire such a huge
Church Slavonic impact, as the internal chancellery does. The correspondence with the L’viv Orthodox
Brotherhood generally follows the tendencies of the Ruthenian used in the Lithuanian and Ruthenian Metrica,
which include the step-by-step increase of Polonisms and the impact of the language of the Polish-Lithuanian
Crown chancelleries.

Abstract

analyzing the grammatical substitutions found in the translation of the literary text from Romanian to Bulgarian.
The peculiarities of translation are described according to the theory of transformations in translation, belonging
to the Russian linguist L.S. Barkhudarov.

Abstract
This article aims to describe the diminutives of culinary origin in Bulgarian and Romanian.
The diminutives belonging to that group include lexemes indicating food products, meals, beverages, spices,
kitchen equipment, utensils, clothing and facilities, related to food and nutrition in general. The feature analyses
the denotative, as well as the connotative meanings of “culinary” diminutives and seeks to explain their
abundance in both languages.

Abstract
Most fairy-tale characters inspired by Slavic mythology are almost unrecognizable in
Russian fairy tales. Over time, Yoginya-Matushka turned into a scary Baba-Yaga, one of the most important
characters in Russian fairy tales. Christianization, in its attempt to destroy the cult of paganism, forced people to
change their worldviews and accept new beliefs. The appearance of many gods was changed negatively, and
mythological characters were turned from positive deities into negative and hostile creatures. Over time,
mythological characters transformed and became fairy tale characters. The article aims to describe the
transformations that Yoginya-Matushka underwent until she became the fairy tale character Baba-Yaga.

Abstract
While entire volumes of literary studies have been dedicated to Taras Shevchenko’s poetic
creation, his prose remained a long time in obscurity.
The Cinderella status of Shevchenko’s prose is largely due to Kuliş Panteleimon’s authority, one of the
major representatives of Ukrainian education, who deemed that the publication of these works, rather weak in
his opinion, could only dent Shevchenko’s reputation as national poet. The publication of Shevchenko’s prose
work with great delay and with numerous errors and deviations from the original text was the reason why the
public failed to appreciate its true worth.
The democratic attribute of the great Kobzar’s artistic accomplishment, also present in his prose, lies in
the manner in which he renders the women’s grueling fate at that time in an attempt to change the prejudiced
perception of most of his contemporaries. The writer creates his own feminine prototype, based not so much on
physical beauty, but primarily on inner values, as the woman was the very symbol of love and endurance and
justifying in this way her supreme functions in society, those of mother and wife.
The present paper analyzes the female characters from the short stories - Najmichka (The Servant Girl)
and Knjaginja (The Princess), focusing on the manner in which they are integrated in the Ukrainian customs and
rituals on one hand, and in mythology and universal literature, on the other.
Shevchenko, a monumental talent, is a representative of many types of transgression: social, human,
artistic and cultural. Thus, from a mere serf, he became a decisive poet and writer who marked the destiny of his
own country, continuously fighting to endure and overcome himself. His talent does not limit only to the literary
field, but he proves his artistry also in the plastic arts, seeking to erase the boundaries that segregate the arts
between them and aiming towards a total form of art. In addition to writing both in Ukrainian and Russian,
restating in his works the common origin of the two languages and cultures, Shevchenko also reached, through
his work, to a point where the boundaries between cultures are superfluous and from where the universality of
artistic creation begins.
